The Tunnel of Eupalinos or Eupalinian aqueduct is one of the largest technical works of ancient Greece, constructed in 530 BC.The engineer responsible for designing and building the ancient project -named by Herodotus- is Eupalinus of Megara.He created a 1036 meter long tunnel through mount Ampelos to water the city of Sámos now called Pythagorion.
In 1992 UNESCO declared the area of Eupalinos aqueduct a World Cultural Heritage site.If you plan to visit the tunnel get prepared for a life time experience!
